Tentacles?

As I said, I used that for brainstorming a bit and these are a few of the ideas that came out:

From the sketches I decided that my tentacle-monkey were the most interesting:
the main use for their tentacles is to swing from trees while they use their four hands to pick up berries and fruit, but they also use them to sleep, wrapping themselves in the membrane between the tentacles to camouflage themselves as carnivorous plant that lives in the same area (see sketches).

At this moment in time this is my final piece:

...but I know there is still much to improve, so you'll probably see some more development in the near future.

Turrets (With Arms)

Maya again!

And this time it comes charging in with turret concepts to replicate as closely as possible...

...(rotating top part and cannons)...

... and then personalizing everything with cool stuff like arms and wheels :)

Buggsy!

As we go back to our Photoshop session we get into the different phases and processes of painting virtually.

To do that we get to paint a green bug alien starting with an already made line-work files and instructions on how to proceed:

So, after cleaning up the line-work, there's the base colouring and the filling in some quick shadows, both on separate layers:

After that, I use what I've done so far as a base on which to paint the final touches:

Fishy

After leaving our first studio session we were left with the assignment to follow the Lynda - Maya Essentials 2 lesson and to create a Maya model of a fish while following it.

After happily following the instructions from the tutorial and then slowly messing up for hours after that this is what came out (noting that I can't see the reference image any more nor could group the faces for the back fin):

One-sheet & Unity

Today's session was about game encounters and game-play design and, after drawing two characters (one with reference and one without), we got together in groups to come up with a quick game idea.

After a quick pitching by everyone of their idea, and after lunch, we had our first encounter with the almighty Unity.

And, after the usual explanation of the basic tools (ie. primitives, viewports, lighting), we were to create a place out of primitive objects so we could run around with the first person controller,
so... Sun Temple!!

...the view as you fall off the door trap.
